We are also grateful to the Oregon Community Foundation for a $25,000 grant received from the Swindell’s Family Fund. The purpose of that grant was to help us build organizational capacity to expand our data base and diversify fundraising approaches.
Founded in 1909, United Methodist Retirement Center is a 501(c) 3 organization with a mission to provide a life-affirming community, through end of life, by providing high-quality and affordable housing and support services in an atmosphere where residents, children and staff become an extension of family, and each person’s dignity, worth and choice are respected.
In 1985 the Willson House Child Development Center was added and is one of the first of its kind in the state of Oregon. It has made it possible for us to create a place for generations to learn and grow together. What a unique opportunity the intergenerational program is to both the children and older adults as they engage in special daily activities! It’s truly a relationship to be treasured.
We look to 2015 with excitement as many new opportunities are presented. We will remain focused on helping our residents to remain as independent as possible yet still provide the assistance they need to have a good quality of life. Our second focus will be to strengthen the intergenerational relationships for our seniors and children by developing even more great activities.
May the coming year bring you and your family happiness, good health and prosperity. From our house to yours, “Merry Christmas and Happy New Year”!
